About Me

Who am I:

I became a therapist because of my interest in the human experience. Each person’s journey and life experiences are different. These experiences shape who we are as a person and how we relate to the world. Sometimes things get in our way of making the best out of our everyday lives. I am here to help you process and better understand how these things are affecting you.

I work with a therapy dog in my practice, his name is Gustav(Gus). Gus is a joy to have in my practice and is loved by most everyone. If you are not comfortable with dogs, please let me know and I will not have him present during our sessions.

Schooling:

I received my undergraduate degree in Sociology from Sonoma State University. I went on and completed my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology  from California State University Hayward.

Work Experience:

I have diverse experience working as a therapist/counselor in many different settings.  I spent my first few years in a group home working with troubled teenagers.  I then worked  at Planned Parenthood and from there went on to spend a couple years in the public school system as a school counselor. For the past ten years, along with working in my private practice, I have been working for various non-profit agencies, including within residential and community based settings. The focus of my work within these agencies has been working with emotionally disturbed children, teenagers and families.

Currently, in addition to my private practice, I work full time for a community based mental health agency on the Quality Assurance and Privacy side of things. Due to this I only offer appointments in the evenings and occasional Saturdays.
